Cards For Travel

A refreshed website that enables you to travel the world.

the challenge

Chris and Steph from Cards for Travel came to me wanting an overhaul to the design and development of their website. The Cards for Travel website teaches people how to travel hack: is the art of collecting frequent flier points and miles to get free flights, hotels, tours, and more. The information provided on the site helps people to get started and understand which cards they need.

The previous site was an old blog design that they were very unhappy with. Since the goal of Cards for Travel is to take people on the trips of their dreams, Chris and Steph wanted to inspire people who came to the site to act on their dreams of travel. The biggest problems they had with their previous designers and developers is that they didn’t have a reliable design and development team. No one looked at the site with a creative focus. The back end of the old site was sloppily but together, which was a pain since they needed a site that was easy to update with new credit card information.

the solution

Cards for Travel now has a design that is inspiring and clean. I created illustrations that spoke to the dream of traveling: aspiration and fun. The type was laid out in a simpler fashion, making it easier to access and read. I worked with Lars at Chee Development to create a new backend. The new website now has the simple, fun, and aspirational tone they wanted, along with a back end that is much easier to use.

the kudos

“In the past I’ve often experienced delays from well-meaning, yet over-promising designers. Maria produced quality artwork AND was ahead of schedule—not a minor combination in this world. I wouldn’t hesitate to work with her again and I hope to have that chance soon.”

Client Kudos

Maria is awesome-sauce, plain and simple. She’s a joy to work with. She does excellent work. And, wow, is she creative. I love my branding. I feel much more confident approaching prospects, sending out proposals, and upping my game. Cross your fingers that Maria has bandwidth for your project. You won’t regret it.
